Paladins Pinned at New Milford Quad Meet

Paramus Catholic faced stiff competition on the mat during their weekend quad meet against New Milford, Hackensack and Tenafly

Sitting at the bottom of the rankings in North Non-Public A, the Paramus Catholic Paladins record took another hit during a weekend quad meet at New Milford. The Paladins, now 4-11, defeated Tenafly but fell to Hackensack and the host Knights.

In their lone win, PC surged ahead of the Tigers, 56-18, by relying on their upperweights to stick Tenafly to the mat. Jake Pletsch, Justin Costello, Matt Lee and Marcus Pantoja all recorded a pin to secure PC's victory. Lower weights Owen Woods and Zach Cavallaro won their matches via pin while middle weights Michael Scaravilli (3-1 decision) and William Duby (20-4 technical fall) provided the lead.

But those same successes did not transfer to the mat when the Knights (42-35) and Comets (61-6) soundly knocked the Paladins onto their backs.

New Milford picked up points where it mattered, in the middle and upper weights, to stave off a Paladin comeback, while Hackensack dominated in every class. PC earned their lone six points against the Comets when Michael Scaravilli (132) handed Randall Gordon a 9-4 decision.

Paramus Catholic has another rough schedule ahead as the Paladins head to Wayne on Wednesday, 7pm to face DePaul and then Cliffside Park on Saturday, 10am in another quad meet. Along with the Red Raiders, PC will compete against Lyndhurst and St. Mary's (Rutherford).
