Wrong gift? It's eBay To The Rescue At Garden State Plaza Dec. 26

The largest mall in New Jersey is only one of 3 nationwide the online reseller will have pop-up kiosks where people can resell gifts.

Christmas is the day for getting presents — even ugly and unwanted ones.

This year, Westfield Garden State Plaza in Paramus is offering shoppers a unique way to get rid of presents old and new, ugly and unwanted Saturday with a little help from eBay.

Garden State Plaza is just one of just three chosen by the Internet reseller to feature pop-up kiosks where shoppers can resell Christmas gifts that don’t have receipts or auction off used other items they no longer want.

The kiosk promotion is being held on Boxing Weekend, a promotion designed to repurpose Boxing Day — the day after Christmas — for Americans.

The kiosks are promoting eBay’s Valet service, which does everything for the seller, from estimating the price to taking pictures, listing the item, and safely shipping it to a new buyer. During Boxing Weekend, eBay Valet fees will be waived. Customers who print an eBay Valet label will get to keep all of the profits after their items are sold. Normally, there is a 20 to 40 percent Valet commission on items sold.

The company will also post valets in San Francisco and Chicago Saturday and Sunday. The kiosk will be open near the mall’s carousel from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday. The kiosk will not be open Sunday because of Bergen County blue laws.

“We’ve made it easy to sell in-person, online, on the eBay app or with the eBay Valet service over Boxing Weekend,” said Vincent Payen, head of consumer selling at eBay. “Whether it was a designer sweater that didn’t fit, or an older tablet that has been replaced by a new one, there is always a buyer among our global community of 159 million for whom it will be perfect.”
