103 N.J. Towns Where You're Most Likely To Get Your Car Stolen

Lock that door before you park anywhere in New Jersey. You may be surprised to see what N.J. towns have the most motor vehicle thefts, no longer a problem that's just confined to the state's urban centers.

Patch compiled a list of the top 100 (it came out to 103 because of a four-way tie for 100th) towns with the most motor vehicle thefts, using data from the state's Uniform Crime Report.

The report, which uses data from the most recent year available (2014), actually shows a dramatic 58 percent drop in New Jersey motor vehicle thefts between 2005 and 2014. The drop has been sizable in both suburban and urban areas, according to the report.

Some suburban communities, however, have seen nearly 50 percent increases or more, such as East Rutherford in Bergen County and Middle Township in Cape May County.
