2-Family Parsippany Home Burns Down, Families Left Homeless

PARSIPPANY, NJ — A two-family home fire has left its occupants homeless, according to Parsippany fire officials.

On April 18, around 11:30 p.m., Parsippany fire crews were called to a one-story two-family house with heavy fire from the "A" side.

Aside from the blaze, authorities were met with a downed power line in the road, causing further hazards to responding crews.

As officials attempted to contain the blaze, it became clear that an occupant was unaccounted for. After searching the home, it was determined that the person was not in the home and was later found safe.

One occupant was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

Several mutual aid departments assisted in extinguishing the blaze, which took around four hours, officials said.

The Red Cross was brought in to assist the occupants with temporary shelter and basic necessities.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation on Sunday.
