PARSIPPANY, NJ — Police are still looking for an autistic man who was reported missing more than 24 hours ago.
Jigar Prajapati, a 31-year-old autistic man, was last seen in his home on Califon Road around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, police say.
Police believe he left his residence on foot sometime between 3:30 and 6 a.m. Tuesday morning. He was last seen wearing blue pajama pants and a gray T-shirt. Prajapati is around 5'5" tall and weighs 160 pounds, police said.
He does not have his cellphone with him and is considered endangered, authorities added.
On Tuesday, the New Jersey State Police deployed a low-flying helicopter to search Lake Parsippany and the surrounding area.
As of 1 p.m. Wednesday, authorities did not have any updates on Prajapati's whereabouts.
"The multi-agency search for Jigar Prajapati has been ongoing since he was reported missing yesterday," a Parsippany Police Department spokesperson told Patch on Wednesday. "At this time, there is no new information to share. We continue to work with our law enforcement partners toward a positive resolution."
Police ask residents in the surrounding area to check their properties and review any available surveillance/CCTV footage for possible sightings of Prajapati.
