Another N.J. Statewide Sweep Planned After 1,200 Deadbeat Parents Busted
Another statewide sweep of N.J. deadbeat parents is coming after 1,200 people were busted, owing $25M. See lists below.

Another statewide sweep of deadbeat parents will soon be underway after New Jersey has rounded up more than 1,200 people this year who owed $25 million in child support, officials say.
John Armeno, executive director of the Sheriffs Association of New Jersey, said a deadbeat parent raid is typically carried out prior to school starting or after the December holiday season.
Armeno acknowledged such statewide raids happen twice a year, although sheriff's offices in each county may conduct their own raids.

He said the money should help the children get clothing when they need it, which is typically before school starts or following the winter holidays.
The news comes after 1,221 delinquent parents were busted earlier this year in a three-day February sweep.

Additional targets included parents who have failed to appear at court hearings to establish a child support order or order for medical support, according to an association release.
The sheriff’s officers canvassed the state, serving 1,221 warrants and collecting $224,088.36. The total amount of money owed on the warrants was $25,390,459.66.
“Our twenty-one County Sheriffs and their Officers strive to do their best during the year and especially during these sweeps to make sure that the children of our state receive the support they are supposed to receive," Michael F. Strada, the Sheriff’s Association of New Jersey president, said in the release.
"Our children are our most prized possession; every parent must do everything they can to be a part of their child’s life. You can never get the time back that passes by.”
The Sheriffs’ Association of New Jersey has attached the statistics for each county indicating the number of warrants executed and the amount of child support owed and collected.
In some areas, the sweep may already be underway.
