Christmas Fire Destroys Parsippany Home

The family was not home at the time of the fire.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — A Parsippany family lost their home in a Christmas evening fire, Parsippany Police said.

Around 6:45 p.m. on Christmas, multiple neighbors called 911 to report a fire at 29 Southwood Drive. The family was not home at the time, police said. Multiple fire departments attempted to put out the fire, but the home began to collapse and was unsafe to enter.

A construction company demolished the home, and firefighters extinguished the fire by 2 a.m. the next morning.

One firefighter was taken to the hospital for a leg injury after falling on ice.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Parsippany Fire Investigator Detective M. Czajka and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office CID unit. The family is currently staying with relatives.
