NJ.com: Daily Record, Three Other Gannett Papers Face Layoffs

The job cuts are the latest belt-tightening move for the media company.

Layoffs are the reality at four New Jersey-based Gannett Co. newspapers, including the Daily Record of Parsippany, according to nj.com.

The job cuts, announced Tuesday, make up the largest layoff Gannett has imposed since 2009. Financial downsizing is the reason given for what will be 700 layoffs nationwide.

The other papers affected are the Asbury Park Press, the Home News Tribune of East Brunswick and the Courier News of Bridgewater.
