Finger Food? McDonald's Customer Says Used Hand Bandage Found in Sandwich

Parsippany resident spread the word on Facebook to warn her friends to check their food before eating.

Dawn King of Lake Hiawatha may have asked for extra pickles on her lunch sandwich, but she certainly didn’t request a finger cot.

Despite that, King still got one, she says, at the Parsippany McDonald’s on Route 46 while trying to eat her lunch on July 17.

One bite, good. Second bite, fine. But before taking a third bite, King said, she came across a finger cot, or finger bandage, on the underside of her Filet O’ Fish sandwich.

As if finding a used bandage of any kind wasn’t bad enough, King’s interaction with the store’s ownership only added insult to injury.

“[I] called the owner and she gave me a hard time,” King wrote on her Facebook page last week shortly after the incident occurred. “[The owner said] ‘It couldn’t come from my store, I assure you 100% that we do not use those.”

King said from there she called the store’s manager, who confirmed to her one of the employees had cut herself earlier and was wearing one while working.

King said she shared the post on social media to alert others of the incident and to check their food.

The customer was offered a free sandwich for the ordeal, she said, but refused. She was also offered a refund for the sandwich, but said she didn’t want to return to the establishment.
