Free Comic Book Day Returns To Parsippany Store This Saturday

Breaking news from Patch's partners at the Daily Planet: FUNNYBOOKS in Lake Hiawatha will have free comic books this weekend.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Breaking news from Patch's partners at the Daily Planet: Free Comic Book Day is almost here, and one Parsippany shop will get in on the celebration. FUNNYBOOKS Comics & Stuff will be among the industry's stores throughout the world providing freebies and deals on Saturday.

FUNNYBOOKS (98 N Beverwyck Rd., Lake Hiawatha) will have offerings for all ages, from "The Amazing Spider-Man" to DC's "Dark Crisis: Special Edition" to "Captain Underpants."

Free Comic Book Day falls on the first Saturday in May each year. Shops have different policies on how many free comics each customer can receive, but patrons will get at least one free comic from each participating location. Libraries can also sign up to partner with the program.

The event, which began in 2002, celebrates independent comic book shops. Free Comic Book Day has become popular at shops in the United States and Canada but can also be found at shops throughout the world.
