Lock Your Doors: Parsippany Police See Increase In Car Burglaries

The burglaries are occurring in unlocked vehicles with valuables left inside, police said.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Parsippany is seeing an increase in car burglaries, police said. The incidents are occurring in unlocked vehicles with valuables left inside.

In recent weeks, local police departments such as Parsippany's, Morristown's and Morris Township's have issued similar guidance: lock your vehicle doors and remove all valuables.

Warmer weather gives potential burglaries more opportunities to steal if people aren't careful, according to the Morristown Department of Public Safety.

"When the time comes to start wearing shorts and flip flops, there is a tendency to open up our house doors and windows," they wrote on Facebook. "When you've finished hanging out in the back yard, make sure you take a minute to lock up again.
