Burglary Ring Leader, Who Broke Into Parsippany Home, Indicted: AG

Law enforcement investigated 84 burglaries that spanned nine counties in six months, according to the indictment.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — A man who broke into a Parsippany residence was indicted Wednesday for leading a burglary ring that targeted homes throughout New Jersey, according to the Office of Attorney General.

Keith Perry was arrested in April after a far-reaching investigation of 84 burglaries, which took place within six months and spanned nine New Jersey counties and lower New York State, authorities said. The Teaneck man was charged specifically with 17 burglaries in North Jersey.

Perry entered a Parsippany home on Dogwood Lane on Jan. 16, according to the 23-page indictment.

The attorney general's office suspects the ring was involved in all 84 burglaries. Two ring members — Porsche Brown, of Lodi, and Kay Brown, of Paterson — pleaded guilty July 13 to third-degree burglary and are awaiting sentencing.

Perry's indictment includes the following charges: promoting organized street crime (first-degree), conspiracy (second-degree), burglary with a weapon (second-degree), 16 additional counts of burglary (third-degree), receiving stolen property (second-degree) and theft by unlawful taking (second-degree).

Well over half a million dollars in cash, jewelry and other valuables were stolen in the 84 burglaries, according to the attorney general's office.

The U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force arrested Perry on April 30 in North Carolina after the OAG's Division of Criminal Justice obtained a warrant. He was extradited to New Jersey and is detained, pending trial, in the Morris County Correctional Facility.

More than 40 law-enforcement agencies collaborated on the investigation.

“Thanks to the collaborative work of dozens of law enforcement agencies, we stopped this prolific burglary ring and its alleged leader,” said Acting Attorney General Bruck. “Day in and day out, law enforcement in New Jersey demonstrates the power of working together cooperatively to solve crimes and keep our residents safe.”
