Morris Hills Student Heads to Germany with the U18 National Fistball Team

July 6, 2016 - Rockaway, NJ - Christine Connelly who calls Rockaway, NJ home will be traveling as Captain of the first ever U18 Girls National Fistball Team competing at the Youth World Fistball Championships this summer in Nürnberg-Eibach, Germany July 20-24, 2016.

The 16 year old student at Morris Hills High School, tried out for the team after her good friend Kayley Moran sent her the information from a newspaper article. The two friends thought it would be fun to try out for the team together.

The team has been practicing at the Swim and Sport Club at 272 Emmans Road, Roxbury, NJ since early May to compete against U18 Girl’s teams from Austria, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Germany, India, Kenya, Switzerland and Togo.

When asked about being a member of the team, Ms. Connelly had this to say. “I am surprised at how much I love fistball. For having only played it in such a short period of time, it's such a fun sport to play that I have fallen in love with doing so.”

In addition to Fistball Christine has been know to enjoy Volleyball, Softball and reading.

“I have learned a new sport and have also learned to be a supportive person especially if it's something new. It is an extremely fun sport that is relatively quick to pick up and can be played with virtually anyone.”

With partial funding from the United States Fistball Association, the team has been pursuing corporate sponsorships, individual donations and apparrel sales to help defer the extensive costs to the team members.
