Morristown's Big 5th Inning Ousts Parsippany

Nine-run frame buries Red Hawks in Morris County Tournament preliminary-round game.

The softball team dropped its Morris County Tournament preliminary-round game to Morristown High School at Frelinghuysen Middle School in Morristown on Tuesday afternoon, 9-2.

IN SHORT

Parsippany found itself in a tight, scoreless game heading into the fifth inning, but after the Red Hawks grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the frame, Morristown's bats came alive in the bottom of the frame. Morristown exploded for nine runs on seven singles and two walks. The Red Hawks attempted to rally in the top of the seventh, sending seven batters to the plate, but managed to push just one run across the plate.

Kelsey Principe—The Parsippany senior center fielder went 2-for-4 with two singles in the loss.

OTHER KEY PERFORMANCES
Cynthia Abinader (Parsippany), 1-for-2 with a single and two walks; Mollie Forman (Morristown), pitched a complete game recording 13 strikeouts, allowing six hits, walking two and allowing one earned run.
