Par-Troy East All-Stars Come Up Short Against Hanover

A 15-minute rain delay didn't help.

The Par-Troy East U11 baseball team dropped a tough one to Hanover Township, 4-2, on Wednesday at DeLio Field in Parsippany.

Despite trailing 3-0 after two innings--and sitting through a 15-minute rain delay-- the Parsippany All-Stars battled back, courtesy of starting shortstop and pitcher, Emil Matti.

In the third inning, Matti got things going with a stand up triple into the gap. Matti would score on a Vinnie Prezioso single, bringing Par-Troy East within two, 3-1.

Matti would strike again, this time in the bottom of the fifth, as he smashed a solo-home run to left center to get Par-Troy within one run.

But trailing 3-2 in the top of the sixth, Hanover found some insurance as two stolen bases, followed by an errant throw to third base, plated their fourth run of the game.

Parsippany tried to rally in the bottom of the sixth, but couldn’t get anyone on base, dropping the pool game, 4-2.
