Parsippany To Celebrate USA's 250th With Weeklong 4th Of July Celebration
There will be several events leading up to the township's Independence Day extravaganza.
PARSIPPANY, NJ — Parsippany-Troy Hills officials are inviting residents to celebrate Independence Day and America's 250th anniversary with a weeklong series of patriotic events, community activities and family-friendly festivities leading up to the township's annual fireworks celebration.
Mayor Pulkit Desai, the Township Council and township officials announced "America Week," a community celebration running from June 29 through July 4.
"Residents are invited to come together for a week of remembrance, service, creativity and family fun as we honor our nation's history and celebrate the community spirit that makes Parsippany such a special place to call home," township officials said.

Monday, June 29: Honoring the Service Among Us

- Noon at Town Hall
- Ceremony honoring veterans, law enforcement officers and first responders
- Includes a flag-raising ceremony, proclamation and bell ringing
Tuesday, June 30: Stories of Parsippany
- 7 p.m. at Veterans Park
- Community bring-your-own picnic
- Screening of a short documentary
Wednesday, July 1: Civic Engagement Day
- 7 p.m. at Town Hall
- Recognition of winning student essays, poems and artwork
- Special reading by one of the student winners
Thursday, July 2: Keep America Beautiful
- Location, time to be announced
- Community cleanup effort as part of the Keep America
- Beautiful Pledge
Friday, July 3: Art & America
- 6:30 p.m. at Veterans Park
- Community art, poetry and essay displays
- Residents are encouraged to bring a picnic and enjoy an evening in the parkSaturday, 4th Of July Events
Saturday, July 4: Independence Day Events
1. Mayor Desai's Community BBQ
- 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Smith Field Park
- Sponsored by Outback Steakhouse
- First 250 attendees receive a free hamburger or hot dog
- First 100 veggie burgers will be free
- Additional food available for $2.50
2. Independence Day Celebration
- Begins at 5 p.m. at the Parsippany Hills High School fields
- Live music
- Food trucks and concessions
- Carnival attractions and inflatables
- Family-friendly activities
- Fireworks display to conclude the evening
Residents can also participate in "Dunk Mayor Desai" from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. during the Independence Day celebration. For a $5 donation, participants will receive two throws at the dunk tank, with proceeds benefiting the Parsippany Food Pantry.
Officials said the weeklong celebration is intended to commemorate 250 years of American independence while bringing residents together through civic engagement, volunteerism, creativity, and community pride.
The Township of Parsippany-Troy Hills encouraged residents to attend the events and celebrate the traditions, values, and community spirit that continue to make Parsippany "a desirable place to live, work, and raise a family."
