Parsippany Hotel Closes Its Doors After Nearly 40 Years

PARSIPPANY, NJ — It appears to be the end of an era for a Parsippany hotel that has been around for nearly 40 years.

The Embassy Suites Hotel at 909 Parsippany Boulevard has seemingly closed its doors after 37 years of operation.

While exact details on the closure are not clear, the hotel has stripped its signage and barricaded its locked doors with empty luggage carts.

The 274-suite hotel, opened in 1989, announced a massive number of layoffs in a May Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) report.

The report said 54 employees would be laid off by Aug. 14, this Friday.

The hotel announcement was joined by another wave of Parsippany layoffs at Fulton Bank, which cut nearly 100 jobs following its $243 million acquisition of Blue Foundry Bank.

Layoffs continued to rise across New Jersey in the first quarter of 2026, with employers announcing nearly 4,800 cuts through the end of March, a 30.7 percent increase over the first quarter of 2025.

The 4,785 layoffs include nearly 1,000 announced in March, with banking companies JP Morgan Chase, UBS, and Fiserv leading the list of employers making cuts.

There were 3,660 layoffs in the first three months of 2025, according to New Jersey's database that tracks WARN notifications.
