The Navy veteran died recently at age 99, according to his obituary.
Candelmo moved to Parsippany a decade ago. He served in the United States Navy from Feb. 15, 1943 to Oct. 2, 1945, when he was honorably discharged.

Candelmo then worked for Edison Company in Cedar Grove as a stationary engineer for many years before retiring.
He is survived by many extended family members.
