Parsippany's 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony Scheduled: See Details

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Parsippany residents will gather later this month to mark the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and remember seven members of the community who lost their lives that day.

The Township of Parsippany-Troy Hills will hold its annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony on Sept. 11, beginning at 8:40 a.m. at the 9/11 memorial monument in front of the Parsippany-Troy Hills Municipal Building, 1001 Parsippany Boulevard.

Mayor Pulkit Desai, township officials and members of the Parsippany Interfaith Council are expected to join residents for the ceremony.

The township will specifically honor seven Parsippany residents who died in the attacks:

• Martin Boryczewski
• Antoinette Duger
• Jason Kyle Jacobs
• Michael Pescherine
• Thomas H. Polhemus
• Maria Theresa Santillan
• Michael C. Sorresse

The ceremony will include prayers of commemoration led by local clergy, followed by the presentation of a ceremonial wreath by members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. The names of Parsippany's seven victims will then be read aloud before a period of silent reflection.

This year's gathering comes a quarter-century after the attacks on the World Trade Center, Pentagon and United Airlines Flight 93 on Sept. 11, 2001. Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the attacks.

The ceremony will be held rain or shine. If there is inclement weather, the gathering will be moved inside the Municipal Building to the Council Chambers, township officials said.
