Parsippany Mayor On Storm Recovery: “Good Shape, Not Great”

Downed trees, wires, and power outages were left in the wake of the holiday weekend's several storms.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Following a brutal holiday weekend for weather, towns in Morris County are still bouncing back from the storm damage, including Parsippany.

Monday night, Mayor Pulkit Desai provided an update on where Parsippany stood in terms of power outages, fallen trees, road closures, and other storm fallout.

“I’ll be transparent with you; we’re in good shape, but not great shape. There’s still work to do, but every hour we’re making progress,” Desai said. “We’re in constant communication with JCP&L and doing everything we can to move things along as quickly and safely as possible.”

“Overall, Parsippany fared better than many of our neighboring towns,” Desai said. “Thank you for your continued patience, cooperation, and for checking in on your neighbors (that’s what makes Parsippany special)!”

Desai added that he intends to meet with JCP&L, our Police Department, Fire Districts, OEM, DPW, and Parks & Forestry to determine how Parsippany can be even more prepared next time.
