Parsippany Named Safest Large City in New Jersey
Consumer resource site says Morris County's largest town is far and away the safest in the Garden State.

The largest Morris County municipality and home to booming businesses and a diverse demographic has been named New Jersey’s safest large city.
According to valuepenguin.com, which recently released its rankings of safest and most dangerous cities in the Garden State, ranked Parsippany as its top large city.
The website’s rankings lumped cities with populations above 45,000 people together for the large category, and stated Parsippany had more than 53,000 residents.

Parsippany’s next closest competitor was Bridgewater, which scored 40 points higher than the winner – a higher score meant a higher crime rate, according to the list.
Parsippany scored a 114, with the average large city crime score 239, the site said. Rounding out the top five for largest city were Middletown, Jackson, and Piscataway.

On the other end of the spectrum, large cities Irvington, Trenton, Newark, Paterson, and Plainfield were dubbed with the dubious distinction of least safe large cities in New Jersey.
The consumer resource site measured crime in 474 New Jersey towns for its list, ranking Parsippany 108 overall, behind 12 other Morris County towns. The site used FBI crime statistics from 2013 to compile its list and based it on per capita.
