IN SHORT
Parsippany senior Phil Tomaro took the mound for the first start of his high school career, and despite losing 4-0, Tomaro was effective on the bump against a tough Madison lineup. But the Red Hawk bats struggled to get anything going, as Madison starting pitcher Connor Higgins allowed only one hit while striking out four.
RED HAWK OF THE GAME
Phil Tomaro —In his first start career start, Tomaro limited the Dodgers to four runs over six innings.
“This is his first time on the mound, a senior, he hasn’t pitched in four years. He stepped up this year and said he wanted to pitch and against a good hitting team like Madison, to hold them to four runs over six innings, he did what we asked him to do. I couldn’t ask for anything more.”—Head Coach Ken Dobkin
OTHER KEY PERFORMANCES
Troy Hance (Parsippany), 1-for-2 with a single and a walk; Alex Brownlee (Madison), 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored; Connor Allen (Madison), 1-for-3 with an RBI;
THEY SAID IT
“Offensively we struggled. Give credit to [Higgins] he kept us off balance and threw strikes, but we’ve got to get hits and get base runners. We’re not a team that’s going to pound the ball, but once we get guys into scoring position we can do a lot of things. We just couldn’t get in the right situation, we hit couple of balls hard, but defensively [Madison’s] really sound.”—Dobkin
