Parsippany Opens 2 Cooling Centers During Extreme Heat
The Parsippany Community Center and the library's main branch will be available for residents.
PARSIPPANY, NJ — Not so breaking news: it's hot outside. With the extreme heat expected to stick around, the township will allow residents to use two facilities as cooling centers.
The public can use the Parsippany Community Center (1130 Knoll Rd., Lake Hiawatha) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Call 973-263-7163.
The Parsippany Library's Main Branch is also available at 449 Halsey Rd. The library will operate from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday and then 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Call 973-887-5150.

The National Weather Service included Parsippany in a heat advisory, which will last until 8 p.m. Wednesday. Forecasters expect the heat index to rise to 104 degrees.
