Parsippany Police Squadron Wins $10K Lottery Pot

Winner told Sunoco owner that 19 people from department will share the pot.

A 19-player pool from the was one of two Megamillions $10,000 lottery winners in Parsippany Tuesday night, according to a Parsippany business owner who sold the winning ticket.

When contacted, the police department said it could not confirm the story since it is not department related. The winners were revealed to Parsippany Patch through a spokeswoman at the New Jersey Lottery.

Both $10,000 prizes were won by a pool of players, according to business owners where the tickets were purchased.

At the station at 730 Route 46 West, owner Movses Dovgatyan said one of the winners came in to claim the prize and said it was a Parsippany police squadron with 19 players. The jackpot was more than $200 million Tuesday night, the kind of pot that brings in multiple players, Dovgatyan said.

There was another eight-person pool that won from a ticket purchased at the at 171 Kingston Road. Owner Sunil Patel said a man came in to claim the winning ticket.

There have been other winners at these locations, according to the owners, but never the whole pot. “I’m waiting for the big one,“ Patel said.

There were two other winners from New Jersey on Tuesday night, both winners tripling their $10,000 prize by three after purchasing the additional Megaplier ticket for another $2.

Those stores were: Camden County at the E.Z. Food Stop, located at 2640 Sicklerville Road in Sicklerville and Union County at D & P Deli + Grocery, located at 425 South Wood Ave. in Linden.
