Parsippany To Raise India Flag In Honor Of 75th Independence Day

India will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the nation's independence from the U.K. Parsippany will get in on the festivities.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — India will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the nation's independence, and Parsippany will celebrate too. The township will raise India's flag at 9 a.m. Saturday at Town Hall.

Mayor James Barberio, the township and the Indian American Seniors Association of Morris County will host the event.

India celebrates Independence Day on Aug. 15. On that date in 1947, the Parliament of the United Kingdom commenced the Indian Independence Act, transferring legal sovereignty to the Indian Constituency Assembly.
