Parsippany Senior Home Catches Fire, Prompts Evacuation
One occupant lost their home, and two residents were taken to the hospital following the blaze.
PARSIPPANY, NJ — One person was left homeless after a senior citizen building caught fire in Parsippany this week, officials said.
On Tuesday, around 10:45 a.m., police and fire were called to 1111 Parsippany Boulevard, the Brookside Senior Center, after a 9-1-1 call reported a fire on the fifth floor.
Police confirmed there was an active fire inside apartment #529 and began evacuating the building with the assistance of firefighters, officials said.

The fire was soon extinguished, and residents were allowed to reenter the building. However, apartment #529 was deemed uninhabitable, and that resident made arrangements to stay with family members, according to police.
A resident on the fourth floor was relocated to a different apartment after their apartment sustained water damage from the fire being extinguished, authorities added.

There were no injuries reported from the fire; however, two residents asked to be taken to the hospital by EMS personnel for unrelated health issues, officials said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call the Parsippany Police Department’s Arson Investigator at 973-263-4300.
