Parsippany Students Reflect, Create Heritage Quilt After Summer Reading Assignment

It began as a summer reading assignment and ended with a reflection of individual students’ cultures.

Students in the Kate Johnson’s Parsippany Hills High School English 2 classes were assigned “Funny in Farsi,” a memoir of growing up Iranian in America by author Firoozeh Dumas.

As a result of the study, students in Johnson’s classes combined to make a class quilt, each creating a patch of their own to reflect on the individual’s heritage and family traditions.
