PARSIPPANY, NJ - Responding to numerous complaints from residents the Parsippany Police issued a statement reminding shoppers not to litter or they will face a hefty fine.

"Shoppers are failing to properly throw out used gloves, wipes and other sanitary products," police said in a statement. "They are being left inside shopping carts and thrown on the ground. Plain and simple, this is littering and you can be charged and fined up to $500 dollars."

Police said that used gloves, wipes, and other sanitary products should be placed in the proper waste receptacle or in a spare bag and taken home top be discarded.

"Littering not only damages your community and the environment, but also forces essential workers clean up your illegally discarded items, exposing them to possible contaminants," police said. "Pride in Parsippany means treating our town and the people who live and work here with respect."
