Phil Murphy Visits Parsippany Businesses With Mayor's Team
The governor and Team Soriano — those campaigning on the mayor's ticket — visited three Asian American Pacific Islander-owned businesses.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Although Gov. Phil Murphy will campaign later this month in Parsippany, he also stopped by a little early. Murphy visited three Asian American Pacific Islander-owned businesses Sunday with Team Soriano — the Parsippany mayor's electoral ticket.
Murphy, Mayor Michael Soriano and Township Council candidates Cori Herbig and Judy Hernandez went to Asia Grocery & Halal Meat, Kabab Paradise and Pakwaan Indian Take Out, according to a news release from Team Soriano.
Each owner expressed how much business has changed over the last 18 months. Pakwaan Indian Take Out became a takeout-only restaurant after its catering and fine-dining establishment struggled amid the coronavirus.

Kabab Paradise now has a bustling outdoor area. The businesses commended Soriano for the town's quick approval process for outdoor dining at the height of the pandemic.
“We were thrilled to welcome Governor Murphy to Parsippany to visit some of our amazing Asian American-owned businesses in town," Soriano said. "We are committed to supporting all small businesses in Parsippany and ensuring that the rich cultural diversity of our business community thrives. Cori Herbig, Judy Hernandez and I look forward to working with Governor Murphy for another four years.”

Soriano, a Democrat, hopes to win re-election Nov. 2 and for Herbig and Hernandez to represent his party on the Township Council. Former Mayor James Barberio is running on a Republican slate with council hopefuls Frank Neglia and Justin Musella.
Murphy is running for re-election against Republican candidate Jack Ciattarelli. The Morris County Chamber of Commerce will host Murphy on Sept. 30 for its "Meet the Candidate" series at the Hilton Parsippany. Read more: Gov. Phil Murphy To Campaign In Parsippany
