Prosecutor: Man Touched Boy's 'Intimate' Parts, Tried Kidnapping Another at Rockaway Mall

Morris County man jailed in lieu of $400,000 bail.

A Morris County man has been lodged in jail after allegedly inappropriately touching a 5-year-old boy at the Rockaway Mall and threatening another while trying to kidnap him, Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp announced.

Kyriakos Serghides, 34, of Rockaway was arrested Thursday after allegedly approaching a 5-year-old boy at the Target Department Store in Rockaway and told the boy to go with the man or else the boy would be cut, Knapp said.

Serghides was also connected to an incident that occurred inside the mall on Aug. 28, when he allegedly “contacted a victim’s intimate parts” while in the bathroom, Knapp said. That boy was also 5-years-old, Knapp said.
