Quick Sellout for Modell's Par-Troy East Shirts

Don't worry: More shirts will be on sale tomorrow to benefit PTLLE parents.

in Arlington Plaza on Route 46 was abuzz Wednesday morning when the first Par-Troy East Mid-Atlantic Championship shirts went on sale. Already, the first batch of 300 shirts is sold out—but manager Lee Brown promises more will be on sale tomorrow.

Parsippany residents and fans of stood on line to stock up on shirts and show their support for the local youth baseball stars.

"I've got 25, no, 26 shirts," she said.

"Gotta stock up," she said, laughing. 

The preshrunk 100 percent cotton T-shirts come in Par-Troy East red and sell for $10 each.

Modell's took on the cost of printing the shirts, and all proceeds from the sale go directly to the families of the championship team to help them defray the expenses involved in traveling to be with their sons in Bristol, Conn., where the , and Williamsport, Pa., where the boys are preparing to take on San Antonio, Texas, Friday at 3 p.m. in their World Series opener.

Manager Brown said helping local teams is business as usual for Modell's.

"The company is a family-owned sporting goods company," he said. "If we have a team like Par-Troy East doing such a great job, we want to help."

Brown said Modell's has a history of doing its part for local teams.

"We offer Team Weeks in the store," he said. "Any local team can sign up to participate. Under the program, the team has a four-week period to get 15 percent off of purchases. If their purchases reach $500 or more, Modell's donates 5 percent of the total back to the team."

And that the proceeds will specifically go to PTLLE families means a lot to Modell's, Brown said.

"We're a family-owned store, so we support family," he said. "And we hope the boys do well in the series.

"We're excited too!"

When Patch picked up three shirts, we asked the cashier, Kevin Chesnick, and he said he expected a sellout.

Indeed: Modell's PTLLE T-shirt sales started just before 11 a.m. and within an hour, all adult sizes were sold out. By 1 p.m., all the shirts were gone.

Brown said a new shipment of 500 shirts in all sizes would be available Thursday.

"However, I've been in communications with the Par-Troy East league, and we may triple that."
