Rep. Mikie Sherrill Endorses Parsippany Mayor's Election Slate
Mayor Michael Soriano is up for re-election against former Mayor James Barberio.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Rep. Mikie Sherrill endorsed Parsippany Mayor Michael Soriano and his Democratic slate for election. Although Sherrill endorsed members of her political party, she said that Parsippany won't get a "Democratic agenda" from Soriano.
"What you’ve heard here tonight, what you heard from Michael, isn’t a Democratic agenda," Sherrill said at a reception in support of the candidates last week. "It is an agenda to make sure the men and women of Parsippany have the support they need to thrive, that we can make sure that everyone has access to a great job, to a great future."
Soriano is running for re-election, as Democratic hopefuls Cori Herbig and Judy Hernandez go for Township Council seats. They will face a Republican slate of former Mayor James Barberio and council hopefuls Justin Musella and Frank Neglia on Nov. 2's election.

While it's common for current and former politicians to endorse members of their own party, it hasn't always happened in this race. Musella received an endorsement from Nick Kumburis, a former school board member who ran for council as a Democrat in 2015. Read more: Ex-Parsippany Dem. Candidate Crosses Party Lines For Endorsement
But Sherrill says Soriano's ticket is up to the task in Parsippany.

"Now more than ever, we need local officials who are singularly focused on improving the lives of families across our communities," Sherrill said. "As we continue to combat the pandemic, build an economic recovery that works for everyone, and make historic investments to restore our infrastructure and keep our nation competitive, I know these candidates are up to the task."
Sherrill represents New Jersey's 11th Congressional District, which includes Morris County and portions of Essex, Passaic and Sussex Counties.
