Rt. 80 Lane Shift Ahead of Schedule, Project to be Completed by End of Year

$73.5 million federally funded reconstruction began two years ago.

When commuters hit the road Thursday morning, they found a new traffic pattern on Rt. 80 in Parsippany – just the next step in the federally funded safety and congestion relief project expected to end this year.

The Department of Transportation announced the single express lane on the left side of Route 80 eastbound would be eliminated while maintaining all four travel lanes to the right of the work zone.

This part of the project was completed two weeks ahead of schedule, the DOT said, with the next stage of reconstruction dedicated to drainage improvements. The project’s entirety is expected to be completed by the end of 2014.
