Set Store Hours For Parsippany Seniors, People With Disabilities

PARSIPPANY, NJ - Due to the high volume of people shopping in the wake of the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, several Parsippany businesses will be offering special hours for those who are most vulnerable to the pandemic.

Three local grocery stores will offer morning store hours exclusively for seniors and people with disabilities in Parsippany.

In addition to regular business hours:

• Stop & Shop will open from 6:00 am to 7:30 am
• Super Foodtown will open from 6:30 am to 7:30 am
• Quick Stop Food Market will be open from 7:30 am to 9:00 am

Officials said they are grateful to these grocery stores for extending the courtesy to our seniors and people with disabilities.

• State Supreme Court Chief Justice Stuart Rabner announced on Saturday, March 14 that municipal court sessions will be suspended for two weeks, beginning Monday, March 16, to mitigate public exposure to COVID-19 coronavirus.

How It Spreads

The virus that causes COVID-19 is spreading from person-to-person. Someone who is actively sick with COVID-19 can spread the illness to others. That is why CDC recommends that these patients be isolated either in the hospital or at home (depending on how sick they are) until they are better and no longer pose a risk of infecting others.
There is currently no vaccine for COVID-19.
While the best way to prevent illness is to avoid virus exposure, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention always recommends taking preventive actions to contain the spread of viruses.

This includes:

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
• Stay home when you are sick.
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipes.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

Residents who have questions about the virus can contact the State of New Jersey's hotline at 1 (800) 222-1222. The hotline is home of the New Jersey Poison Information and Education System, and is staffed 24 hours a day by state health workers.
