Smashburger Gives Burger Temporary New Name to Honor Boston

Smashburger, the fast-casual restaurant chain that operates locations in Parsippany, Morris Plains and Florham Park, announced Tuesday that it will officially change the name of its New Jersey Burger to the Boston Burger on May 1 - 3 and donate $1 from the sale of every burger sold to One Fund Boston.

Created by Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino, One Fund Boston was created to raise money for those most affected by the tragic events that unfolded during the Boston Marathon. One Fund Boston has seen an outpouring of support from people and entities eager to help, according to the organization’s website.

“In light of the terrible tragedy that took place during the Boston Marathon, we wanted to show our support for the families of those who died and were severely injured,” said Scott Gillman, CEO of Mascott Corporation, which owns the New Jersey Smashburgers.  “For many of the injured, the road to recovery will be long, so we wanted to show that they remain in the thoughts of New Jerseyans statewide.”
