Two-War Veteran, FDNY Firefighter, Parsippany Man Dies at 85
James Moss, Sr. spent his life serving others.

James Moss, Sr. was as patriotic and brave as they come. He was the epitome of service to country.
The longtime Parsippany resident died at the age of 85, according to his obituary.
Born in the Bronx and raised on the Westside of Manhattan, Moss moved to Parsippany 52 years ago.

He joined the United States Air Force during World War II on March 7, 1946 and served until his honorable discharge on Jan. 5, 1949. He then reenlisted in the United States Army during the Korean War on May 25, 1950 until he was honorably discharged on May 8, 1953.
In his post-war life, Moss was a dedicated fireman for the Fire Department of New York Engine 69, Battalion 16, and Engine 3 for 20 years until his retirement in 1979.

Moss is survived by his wife, Ida; son James; daughters Linda and Karen; and two grandchildren.
