Mokashi eventually woke up, disoriented, and exited the car, police added. Officials said he smelled of alcohol, had red and watery eyes, and did not recall getting into a collision.

Mokashi also had slurred speech when speaking to officers, who conducted sobriety tests on him after he refused medical attention, officials said.

After performing poorly on the sobriety tests, Mokashi was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, and traffic on marked lanes, according to authorities.

Police called Mokashi's USPS supervisor, who took possession of the government vehicle.

After being processed, Mokashi was released to a responsible party to await court proceedings.
