Victim ID'd In Fatal Parsippany Crash

Cesareo Velazquez was pronounced dead in the hospital after a vehicle struck him on Route 46, authorities said.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Authorities confirmed the identity of a man fatally struck by a vehicle Saturday in Parsippany. Cesareo Velazquez, 36, died after the crash, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office told Patch.

The prosecutor's office was notified at about 7 p.m. Saturday of a vehicle striking a pedestrian on Route 46 East. Velazquez was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Velazquez was born and raised in Cuananchinicha, Mexico, and lived in Parsippany for the last 18 years, according to his obituary. He had worked with the Arias Landscaping and Tree Service of West Caldwell.

Following services Wednesday, he will be repatriated to his hometown.

Officials have reported six fatal crashes this year in Parsippany and 21 in Morris County.
