Walgreens Set to Move This Fall

For months, a banner outside the Parsippany , located in the Troy Hills Village strip mall at 1470 Route 46, has teased residents with news of an impending move. The chain confirms that relocation is planned to take place in the fall.

The move is not to some faraway locale—the new drug store site is going less than a block away, to the  at 200 Baldwin Road.

Company spokesperson Robert Elfinger told Patch that Walgreens is excited about the move, which is part of a nationwide Walgreens expansion that includes a new store in Madison.

“We think we [will] have a more prominent location,” he said, explaining the move.

Elfinger added that the idea behind the move to a corner lot at Baldwin Road and Route 46 is to give customers easier access to the pharmacy.

While it is unknown at this time whether the new Parsippany Walgreens will be one of the national chain's increasingly popular 24-hour locations, the store, post-move, will offer an additional and distinct characteristic it currently lacks–a drive-thru window. The new service will allow customers the convenience of picking up prescription medicines and other items without having to leave their vehicles.

Elfinger said the addition of a drive-thru window is a move that will benefit all involved.

“It really is very beneficial for some of our seniors, as well as for other people who can’t get around as well,” Elfinger said. "It’s an advantage for them, and it allows us to serve them more conveniently.”

So far, there is no word on when the move will officially begin or what will take its spot at Troy Hills Village.
