Wegmans Plans to Move to Morris County

Pending Hanover Township approval, grocery store could soon move into region.

Wegmans is coming to the area.

Hanover Township will be the home of a brand-new branch of the upscale supermarket, according to the Mack-Cali Realty Corporation.

Wegmans Food Markets Inc. will rent an undeveloped site at Sylvan Way and Ridgedale Avenue. Should the project obtain all necessary government approvals, the company will build a 140,000 square foot store.

No projected dates for construction or the store opening were provided.

Mack-Cali said in a statement that it intends to lease the remainder of the site—about 40,000 additional square feet—to other retailers.

“A supermarket of this caliber will be a welcome addition to Hanover Township and the surrounding towns in Morris County," Mack-Cali President and CEO Mitchell E. Hersh said in the company statement. "This was a great opportunity to put our strategically located land bank to use in a diverse manner.”
