What Should Replace Aahar Restaurant?

Patch wants to hear your ideas for filling empty business buildings.

On a recent visit to Aahar Indian Restaurant in the Parsippany Hills Village Shopping Center, we just became depressed.

The building, at 1557-59 Route 46, can be misconstrued as possibly being occupied. A peek through its windows shows stacked boxes, old furniture and discarded items. A neon sign in the window reads OPEN, however it is off, unilluminated.

An easy assumption to make is that some merchant or restaurateur could be in the process of moving in or out. Neighboring business owners helped put an end to that speculation, as did a call placed to the phone number on Aahar's sign: It turns out the former restaurant has been sitting vacant and idle and collecting dust for more than a year.

Which made us feel even more depressed.

What do you think would be a good fit for Aahar Restaurant's former space? Tell us what you would like to see in the comments. We will take your suggestions and pass them along to Mayor James Barberio.
