When Will Parsippany's Fall Foliage Peak: See The Timeline

PARSIPPANY, NJ — The leaves around New Jersey have begun their seasonal transformation — a sign of pretty views to come in Parsippany.

The Garden State's fall foliage is set to peak throughout October, according to official projections. But last summer's hot, dry conditions made it more difficult to predict when fall foliage will peak in each community, including Parsippany.

The New Jersey Forest Service predicted last month that Morris County's leaves would peak in late October. Drought issues, however, make this autumn a less predictable season than others.

"Please be reminded that due to the current drought conditions, low rainfall and heat that New Jersey experienced this summer, the speed at which leaves change and fall will vary at given locations," said the New Jersey Forest Service, noting that the fall will bring unusual foliage patterns.

New Jersey remains on a drought watch, which state officials issued Aug. 9. Conditions around the state have significantly improved since. But much of North Jersey, including the Parsippany area, is still in a "moderate drought," according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.

The leaves around North Jersey have begun to change. Leaves in the Parsippany area could begin to peak in the upcoming week, according to Smoky Mountains, which monitors data that the New Jersey Forest Service uses for its fall-foliage predictions. Later in October, the leaves will begin to fade, according to predictions.
