Will You Go Shopping on Thanksgiving?
Many stores and malls in New Jersey will open on the national holiday, stirring controversy.

Just a few years ago the major question was, “Are you heading into the Black Friday shopping chaos?”
Recently, however, that’s changed to, “So, are you going shopping on Thanksgiving?”
What was considered hallowed ground is now becoming the norm, as more and more businesses decide to open their doors on Thanksgiving to give shoppers more time to capitalize on money-saving deals.

But there’s been public outcry, of course, as opponents of businesses who open their doors say the holiday is meant to spent with loved ones and not stores should be closed.
Locally, Rockaway Townsquare Mall will open Thursday night for the second consecutive year. The building will open its doors at 6 p.m. and close at 1 a.m. Friday, then reopen at 6 a.m. Standalone box stores like Kohl’s, Target, and WalMart will also be open on Thanksgiving.
