County commissioners have approved a contract to expand the program into Paterson through at least May 2027, with details on start date, service area, and vehicle numbers expected in the coming weeks.

Paterson 4K gang members get 7 to 9 years for shooting up rival van (northjersey.com) β Federal prosecutors have sentenced four admitted members of Paterson's 4K gang to seven to nine years in prison for a 2022 shooting that sprayed more than 60 bullets at rivals near 11th Avenue and East 23rd Street. Authorities note that despite ongoing gang activity in Paterson's 4th Ward, city shootings have dropped sharply since 2022, with only 15 incidents recorded so far in 2026.

Pink Warriors Close Out Statewide Day of Action in Rahway with Life-Saving Breast Cancer Message (tapinto.net) β Paterson residents can catch the #EverythingElseCanWait breast cancer awareness tour at a 9 a.m. stop outside City Hall, part of a statewide caravan visiting six municipal buildings today. Pink Warriors and healthcare advocates will share information on mammograms, advanced screening options, and insurance coverage, encouraging women in Paterson and other communities to prioritize early detection this Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

4. 6 men charged in series of 'violent' smash-and-grab jewelry store robberies (news12.com) β Residents should know that federal prosecutors have charged six men in a string of violent smashβandβgrab jewelry store robberies, including a heist at a Paterson shop in May 2025. Investigators say the crew used crowbars and sledgehammers, stole hundreds of thousands of dollars in jewelry, and were linked to crimes in Paterson, Wayne and Union City through DNA, surveillance and getaway cars.

From Softball to Chemotherapy: 11-Year-Old Viviana Gill Battles Rare Blood Cancer (tapinto.net) β An 11βyearβold Totowa softball player is undergoing intensive chemotherapy for a rare blood cancer at St. Joseph's University Medical Center in Paterson, where she's the first pediatric patient treated for this disease. Her family is urging blood and marrow donations, and Totowa will host an October 20 blood drive to support patients like her who rely on frequent transfusions.
