1 More Ex-Point Pleasant Priest Named On Church Sex Abuse List

Several with Point Pleasant-area connections were on the list.

A former priest at St. Martha's in Point Pleasant was named among a list of priests with credible accusations of sexual abuse against them.

Francis Bruno, a priest who was at St. Martha's in Point Pleasant Boro and was removed from the ministry, was named on a more detailed release provided by the Trenton archdiocese this weekend.

Priests from the area who were also named in the new release were: the late Frank Iazetta, who was on the faculty at St. Rose in Belmar; William McKeone, a priest at St. Denis of Manasquan who was removed from the ministry; the late Thomas Rittenhouse of St. Denis in Mansquan; Vincent Inghilterra, a priest at Holy Spirit in Asbury Park who was removed from the ministry; and Father Richard C. Brietske, a former priest at St. Rose who was removed from the ministry.

The list shows nearly 200 members of the clergy with ties to New Jersey who have faced allegations of child sex abuse. Nearly all of them were either sanctioned by the church, charged with a crime or both. Read More: List Of Nearly 200 NJ Priests Accused Of Child Sexual Abuse (UPDATED)

  • Romannilo Apura, a former priest at St. Martha's Catholic Church in Point Pleasant Boro, was convicted of engaging in sexual contact with a teenage boy.
  • Patrick Francis Magee, 77, who was the pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Bay Head, had been arrested in Ireland in 2004 on charges of sexually abusing a child more than 30 years ago. He was charged with "committing an act of gross indecency on or towards a child on a date unknown between Jan. 1, 1965, and Dec. 31, 1969, in the Armagh and South Down area" of Northern Ireland, according to The Asbury Park Press.
  • Liam Minogue once served at St. Martha's Church in Point Pleasant, among other churches, according to The Asbury Park Press. He died in 2007.
  • Robert J. Parenti, 80, a priest at St. Denis Church in Manasquan who once served St. Veronica's Catholic Church in Howell, was named, according to The Asbury Park Pess.
