17 New Laws Chris Christie Could Sign Before He Leaves
The legislature and Gov. Chris Christie plan to push through an ambitious legislative agenda before the governor leaves office on Jan. 16.

New Jersey could have new criminal penalties for the sale of "bump stocks," among other new laws, if the state Legislature and Gov. Chris Christie push through an ambitious legislative agenda before the governor leaves office on Jan. 16.
The state has proposed legislation to ban bump stocks - which help convert firearms into fully, rapid-fire automatic weapons - that was crafted in the wake of the Las Vegas shooting massacre last month that left 58 dead.
That legislation was expected to get a review before an Assembly Committee within the next two weeks, along with: combating attempts to exclude pre-existing health conditions from coverage, more opioid crisis legislation and an innovation zone program to stimulate technology industry.
