2 Pilots Reportedly Busted For Drinking Before NJ Flight (UPDATE)

Two United Airlines pilots were reportedly arrested Saturday for drinking before their New Jersey flight.
Two men, aged 61 and 45, were drinking before they were supposed to fly to Newark from Scotland, according to NBC News, violating a British law that pertains to pilots carrying out their duties while under the influence of alcohol.
The two United Airline pilots were arrested for allegedly failing a breath test before boarding the transatlantic flight, according to The Mirror.

United Airlines had to cancel UA162, the 9 a.m. flight traveling from Glasgow to Newark, according to NBC News.
The pilots were held under the section of a transportation safety law, according to The Associated Press, that covers on the job intoxication and impairment for aviation.

“Police Scotland can confirm that two men aged 61 and 45 years old have been arrested and remanded in custody pending a scheduled court appearance on Tuesday August 6 on suspicion of offenses under the Railways and Transport Safety Act 2003, section 97,” a spokesperson said, according to The Independent.
If found guilty under the law, the pilots could face a fine or up to two years in prison, according to The Independent. The limit for alcohol in the breath for pilots is 9 micrograms per 100mm.
“This morning Police Scotland did attend before the United Airlines flight UA162, going to Newark,” a spokesperson for Glasgow Airport said, according to The Independent.
