29 Winning Powerball Tickets Sold In N.J.

The largest Powerball jackpot in U.S. Lottery history was drawn Saturday night, with no top prize winning ticket sold.

The jackpot at draw time was $947.9 million. Although there was no top prize winning ticket sold, there are 29 New Jersey Lottery ticketholders who have $50,000 third prizewinning tickets that matched 4 white balls and the Powerball for the drawing, according to lottery officials.

In addition, Saturday night’s drawing produced 25 $1 million prize winning tickets that were sold in the following states: two in Arizona, six in California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Massachusetts, Maryland, three in Michigan, three in New York, two in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia.

In addition, there were three tickets that were purchased with the Powerplay option multiplying their $1 million to $2 million. Those tickets were purchased in Connecticut and two in Texas.

“The record breaking Powerball jackpot is an historic event that will be prominent in the public’s recollection of how 2016 began. For New Jersey, it will also be remembered as the impetus to provide vital funding to our Lottery beneficiaries,“ said Carole Hedinger, New Jersey Lottery executive director said.

An assessment of how this Powerball run will positively impact the Lottery’s contribution to its beneficiaries is underway.

New Jersey sold $39.9 million in Powerball tickets leading up to the draw between Thursday, January 7 and Saturday, January 9. Powerball combined ticket sales across the 47 participating lotteries was $880,642,344. Powerplay sales were $49,356,071.

Now, the jackpot has broken its own record and has skyrocketed to $1.3 billion for the next drawing which will be held onJanuary 13. The estimated cash value is $806 million.

The winning numbers for the Saturday, drawing were: 16, 19, 32, 34, and 57. The Red Power Ball number was 13. The Multiplier number was 03.
