Alan M. Harvey, Longtime Point Pleasant Police Dispatcher, Dies At 64

Services will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Alan H. Harvey, 64, of Point Pleasant, passed away Friday, April 22, 2016.

Born in Newark to the late Roy G. and Mildred Harvey, he lived in Point Pleasant since 1966. Alan was a graduate of Point Pleasant Borough High School and was a member of the first graduating class of DeVry Institute, North Brunswick, in 1971.

For twenty years he worked as a dispatcher for the Point Pleasant Borough Police Department and prior to that for the Brielle Police Department. He also worked in security for Ocean County College, Toms River. Since 1972, Alan was a member of the Point Boro First Aid Squad/EMS; and was also a member of the Ocean County F.O.P.

He is survived by his wife, Jane A. (Martin) Harvey; two step-children, Amanda J. Lukacs and Matthew J. Lukacs; granddaughter, Bridget Lukacs; and niece, Debbie Kells. Also surviving are three canine companions, Jack, Max, and Lucy; and many friends.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Apri 26 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. A service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27 at the Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church, Forman and Bay avenues, in Point Pleasant Beach, followed by entombment at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
