POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ — With dangerously high temperatures expected to blanket New Jersey through Saturday, Point Pleasant Beach will open a cooling center to provide relief for residents in need.
Borough officials said the cooling centers will be available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
"Anyone needing information about the location of the Borough's Cooling Centers should contact the Point Pleasant Beach Police Department’s non-emergency line at 732-892-0500," officials said.
The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat warning for all of New Jersey through 8 p.m. on Saturday, with daytime heat index values of up to 110 degrees and overnight lows in the 80s that "will not offer any relief from the heat."
